The Digital Security Act (DSA) came into effect on 8 October 2018 in the background of criticisms against the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act 2006. The DSA, adopted in October 2018 by the Bangladesh Government, has become a threat to the freedom of opinion, expression, and press, and a tool for muzzling dissenting voices. After a wide range of criticism, the Digital Security Act was amended into the Cyber Security Act on 18 September 2023. This website documents the cases filed under the DSA since 8 Oct 2018 and provides perspectives of various stakeholders about the DSA, the nature and scope of the use of the law, and its implications for freedom of expression and democracy.
